A House in Laterite

A House in Laterite

DESCRIPTION
The house is designed on a simple grid. The heart of the house is a double height light well. The exterior walls of the house have been built using local laterite stone. The funicular shape of the roof allows for thermal cooling and the courtyard allows for a ventilation system that keeps the house naturally cool in the summers. The roof overhangs protect the stone walls from the heavy rainfall. The furniture has been designed in-situ with stone.
